How drone spraying works, in plain words.

A spray drone is a sprayer with no wheels. It carries the tank, flies a few metres above the crop on GPS lines, and puts the product down in a fine, even pattern. Here is what that means for your farm.

1. A pass, step by step

  • We map your field outline (you can draw it yourself on our site in a minute).
  • The drone flies back-and-forth lines about 9 m apart, a few metres up, at tractor speed or faster.
  • It lands to refill every few acres; a pickup with water or product stays at the headland.
  • Coverage is checked with water-sensitive paper, the same test a sprayer operator uses.

2. The label decides what we can fly

  • Only products whose label allows aerial application can be sprayed by drone in Canada.
  • Many fungicides and some insecticides and desiccants qualify; send us the product name and we check before booking.
  • We fly to the label rate and water volume for aerial use, and to drift-management rules on the day.

3. What it costs

  • Spraying is priced per job from your acres, crop and label volume. Spreading is per acre.
  • Small, wet, tall or awkward fields are where the drone wins. Big flat fields are often cheaper by ground.
  • Our estimate shows the ground-sprayer comparison so you can see both.

4. When to book

  • In season we usually book within a week; fungicide windows fill first.
  • Jobs on the same route go first, so a heads-up early in the season helps.
  • First-pass guarantee: we fly the first ten acres, you check the coverage paper, and we continue or you pay nothing.

What we'll ask you for

  • What to spread, such as the seed mix or fertilizer, and your target rate per acre.
  • The product, or its name and PCP Act registration number, so we can read the exact label.
  • Crop and growth stage, and what you're aiming for.
  • Field boundaries, drawn in the quote tool.
  • Access: gates, and where we can park and stage.
  • Anything in or near the field: power lines, wells, watercourses, tile outlets, livestock, beehives, homes and neighbouring sensitive crops.

Common first questions

Does it actually cover the crop?

Yes, with the right droplet size and swath. We check it with coverage paper on the day and you can look at the paper yourself.

Is it legal?

Yes, with a licensed pesticide applicator, a certified pilot and a product whose label permits aerial application. Details are in our quote and on request.

Can I see it first?

Yes. We hold field days and, for farms on our routes, free water-only demo passes. Ask in the quote tool or see upcoming field days.
